The K12 Private Academy dual enrollment program gives students access to over 500 accredited college courses. By taking college courses while in high school, students get a better idea of what college is really like and can earn college credit, giving them an advantage when they enter a college program. Students can potentially transfer dual enrollment credits, thereby reducing their overall college cost and time to graduation*.
What is dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment is an opportunity to take accredited, college-level courses while in high school. Credits earned through these programs apply toward high school graduation requirements with the likelihood of transferability to a regionally accredited college or university.*
What are the benefits of dual enrollment?
The K12 Private Academy dual enrollment program lets students save time and money earning college credit early. Dual enrollment programs have also been shown to have positive impacts on college access and enrollment, college degree attainment, and general academic achievement in high school.1
Students can also:
Bolster their college profile and career resume
Access a more diverse catalog of courses, credentials, and certificates than locally available
Explore their chosen majors early and make a switch if necessary
Enter a college program with a better understanding of expectations and the overall experience
Get a head start on college credits, potentially earning enough to graduate college early or make space in their college schedule to pursue a double major
How does it work?
K12 Private Academy allows students access to hundreds of accredited college courses.** By working with a college consortium, we can give students access to colleges across the country so they can take courses beyond their local area or even state, thereby providing an even wider diversity of course options.
Once set up, students take their college-level courses directly from the university. Students continue to take the required courses for graduation at K12 Private Academy.
Who is eligible and what does it cost?
Full-time K12 Private Academy students in grades 9–12 can sign up for our dual enrollment program.
There is an additional $500 administrative fee to take dual enrollment courses. We work with the universities to allow our students to take accredited, college-level courses at a discounted rate.
How can I sign up?
First, you’ll have to be a full-time K12 Private Academy student. Visit the How to Enroll page to start that process.
If you’re already a full-time K12 Private Academy student in grades 9–12, please call your academic success coach to sign up for dual enrollment.
